This is an old Zen phrase about enlightenment through discipline. Players should be very disciplined when it comes to the game of poker. Unless you're sitting on a pile of cash ready for the flame, you'll want to closely monitor the money that you're putting into your bankroll—and the money you're "giving" to the game.
